Psalm 106 directs our thoughts to the Lord this week.  This passage is a brief history of the children of Israel and their dealings with God during their pilgrimage.  Four principles stand out: First, in the light of Gods goodness, the nation still sinned and rebelled.  His grace is never a license for us to sin.  All of us have probably been guilty of this at some time or another.  Second, these people forgot His mercy and ignored His counsel.  God gave manna, and the people wanted meat.  They criticized the leadership.  They freely entered into idolatry.  Verses 24-27 suggest that they came to the Promised Land and refused to enter.  They compromised in verses 28-31.  Finally, were it not for His grace, God would have destroyed them.  But He forgave them and allowed many new beginnings.  Isnt that just like God?  In the midst of our sinfulness, He is so wonderful!

Lets be here Sunday to show our love and support for the senior class of 2008.  These students have worked extremely hard and accomplished so much for the Lord.  By our attendance we will say volumes as far as our love for them and their families is concerned.

As we enter into the summer months, I want to encourage us all to stay as faithful as possible to the work of the Lord.  These months afford all of us opportunities to be used, and to allow our lives to really count for Him.  It is a time when Jesus can become an obvious difference in our lives.  Pray that these will be days of change and re-direction for all of us.

For many people, summer is almost synonymous with baseball and although today many athletic figures are sometimes less than heroic, that has not always been the case.  Dave Dravecky is a name that brings courage to mind.  While pitching for the San Francisco Giants, he found a cancerous tumor in his pitching arm.   After surgery and rehab, he was able to return to his team.  However, during the second outing after his return, that arm broke during a game.  His condition was found to be so serious that amputation was necessary.  This book, When You Cant Come Back, is the story of his struggles to adapt to his life after that amputation and forced retirement  However, it is also the story of his wife Jan and her own struggles with their situation.  Unlike a lot of inspirational stories which depict almost unbelievable rebounds from near disasters, this one deals with real life responses and gives us a picture of how people deal, successfully with issues which often destroy relationships and marriages.

This book can be found in the church library.

Hey Folks,

Hope you are enjoying our two-service schedule.  I have heard from so many (both in the Traditional and Contemporary) that you very much enjoy the way the services are being conducted.  I am delighted and thrilled.

However, there will be occasions when we will come together as a church family in ONE SERVICE ONLY.  Such will be the case on SUNDAY, JUNE 1.

Sunday, June 1, will be our celebration of the Lords Supper.  We may not always conduct the Lords Supper in one morning service, but we feel we need to this time.  So we will not have our Early (8:30) Service on that June 1 date.

Therefore, our schedule on Sunday, June 1 will be as follows:

9:45amSunday school

11:00amWorship Service

Be sure to be present to participate in the Lords Supper.  Every time we celebrate Communion together, someone will tell me how blessed they were in the service.

So, mark your calendarsDont forgetLets come together in worship.
